Abount Elizabeth Walters

Elizabeth Walters, PhD, taught for many years as a classroom teacher, a learning disabilities and reading specialist, and then a professor of Special Education at Southeastern Oklahoma State University.  A noted author, researcher, project director, and speaker; she was intrigued and challenged from the beginning by the student who was an unusual learner, the one who did not learn through conventional methods.

When Elizabeth retired from teaching, she was able to pursue a lifelong desire in a second career as a professional artist. In addition, she gained more time to give of herself and her expertise in the community and her church.  Together with all of this, she is a 18-year survivor of metastatic cancer for whom “making the grade” has particular signifcance. She now seeks to offer her remarkable years of research and experience to a larger population.  The reading method that has helped so many to learn is available in When Phonics Doesn't Work...this does and now in the new program, Smaller Bites.  In addition, Elizabeth is available for consultation and speaking engagements.
